The 2010 Class C Senior
American Legion State Baseball Tournament at
Tri County completed final - championship
round action today. The double
elimination tournament began on
Friday, July 30th
and was completed on
Tuesday, August 3rd.
Final championship round
action on August 3rd
began with one elimination bracket game.
First, Mount Michael faced Creighton at 5:00
pm. Creighton won the game 4-3.
Mount Michael was eliminated from the
tournament with the loss and placed third in
the State Tournament. Mount Michael
plated three runs in the third, but was not
enough as Creighton took the lead in the top
of the seventh with an RBI triple by Klay
Fuchtman who then stole home to score the
winning run.
The final Championship game
at the State Tournament action ended with
Wakefield versus Creighton at 8:00 pm.
Wakefield beat Creighton 4-2. Wakefield
is the 2010 Class C Senior American Legion
State Baseball Tournament Champion and
Creighton is the runner-up. The game was
fairly much evenly matched, but Wakefield took
a 4-1 lead in the fifth and hung on for the
4-2 victory. A.J. Bormann pitched a
complete game for Wakefield with ten
strikeouts.

Wakefield is the winner of the 2010 Class C
Senior American Legion State Baseball
tournament at Tri County and will now host the
Class B Champion versus the C State Champion
game to be held at the Class C Champion site
on August 7th.
