The 2010 Class C Senior
American Legion State Baseball Tournament at
Tri County completed second round action
today. The double elimination tournament began
on Friday, July 30th and will run through
Wednesday, August 4th (August 4th is a rain
date).
Second round action on July
31st began with two elimination bracket games.
First Daykin-Meridian faced Alma at 11:00 am.
Alma won the game 8 – 0. Alma jumped to a five
run lead after two innings and never looked
back. Max Boehler pitched the win and led the
offense with a three run home run for Alma.
Mount Michael Knights then
played the Host Senior American Legion Team
Tri County at 2:00 pm. Mount Michael won the
game 9 – 1. Mount Michael led 3-1 going into
the 6th inning and they exploded with four
runs. Bob Thomas had three singles and an RBI
and Tim Carlson had two singles and three
RBI’s for Mount Michael. Joe Ernst pitched a
three hitter for Mount Michael.
In the two winner’s bracket
games, Wakefield then faced off with David
City at 5:00 pm. Wakefield beat David City
4-0. Wakefield received a solid pitching
performance by A.J. Bormann. David City
threatened throughout the game, but
Wakefield’s defense was solid.
The second day of State
Tournament action ended with St. Paul squaring
off against Creighton at 8:00 pm. St. Paul won
the game 4 -2. A three-run double hit by
Jordan Heusinkelt was the difference in the
game. Casey Poss pitched the win for St. Paul.
Creighton had the tying run on base in the top
of the 7th but only mustered one run.
Games to be held on Sunday,
August 1st include Mount Michael against David
City in an elimination game at 2:00 pm and
Alma versus Creighton in the other elimination
game at 5:00 pm. The teams playing in the
winners bracket are St. Paul versus Wakefield
at 8:00 pm.

2010 Class C Senior American Legion State
Baseball tournament at Tri County will be
crowned the Nebraska Class C State Champion
and will then move on to the Class B Champion
versus the C State Champion game to be held at
the Class C Champion site on August 7th.
