The double elimination tournament began on
Friday, July
30th
and will run through
Wednesday, August 4th
(August 4th
is a rain date).
Third round action on
August 1st
began with two elimination bracket games.
First Mount Michael faced David City at 2:00
pm. Mount Michael won the game 12-2.
David City was eliminated from the tournament
with the loss. Mount Michael powered
past David City with three home runs in the
game hit by Tim Carlson, Clay Taylor and Ted
Pane. Mount Michael pitcher Zach
Loeffelholz struck ten batters in the contest
while allowing seven hits.
Alma then played Creighton
at 5:00 pm. Creighton won the game 6 -

tournament with the loss. Creighton
jumped out to a three to nothing lead in the
first inning and never looked back. Klay
Fuchtman and Teran Boyer did the pitching
chores for Creighton in the win.
The third day of the
State Tournament action ended with the
winner’s bracket game, Wakefield versus St.
Paul at 8:00 pm. Wakefield beat St. Paul
8-5. Wakefield utilized a great “small
ball” offense and a very stingy defense to
notch out the tough victory. St. Paul
had one solo home run by Casey Poss in the top
of the 7th
inning to bring St. Paul closer to Wakefield
at 8 – 5, but no other runs were able to be
scored.

elimination game at 5:00 pm and Wakefield
