Ten years ago, the 1997 Tri County Legion Midget Baseball team won the Class C State Midget Title at St. Paul, NE. The Tri County Legion  Baseball program began in 1995, so 1997 was only the third year of existence for the program.

Tri County Legion teams played all road games from 1995 – 1999 due to the fact there was no Legion Baseball field within the Tri County District.  The Tri County Legion teams from 1995 – 1999 practiced on softball fields and were fortunate to play several “home” games utilizing the Legion fields at Wymore, Wilber, Daykin and Fairbury.

Members of the 1997 Tri County Legion Midget Baseball team were Tanner Bartels, Brett Esau, Dustin Gronemeyer, Jake Klasek, Josh McDougall, Kaleb Pearson, Jarrod Reimer, Jacob Roesler, Brett Scheiding, Brian Thimm and Travis Tietjen.  Coaches for the 1997 team were Bill Thimm, Jim Klasek and Kurt Pohlmann.  The bookkeeper for the team was Barb Thimm.

TCLBO, Inc. was formed in 1994 with a two-fold mission. The first was to bring Legion Baseball to the Tri County District and the second was to construct a field within the Tri County District. The first goal was accomplished by the establishment of the Junior and Senior Legion teams in 1995. The second goal of constructing a field (Tri County’s “Cody Park / Legion Field”) continues to progress.

TCLBO, Inc. purchased ground ˝ miles North of Tri County Schools in June of 1998. A “day field” was completed in 2000 allowing the Tri County Legion teams to start playing “home” games.  The first ever home game was played on June 3, 2000.  Lighting for the field was completed in 2006 with the first “night” game being played on June 25, 2006.  This is a great accomplishment and has been a total community effort of DeWitt, Plymouth, Swanton and surrounding communities.  The first three phases of the four phase project are complete and need to finish phase four to finalize the construction phase of the project.  Remaining phase four items include bleacher/press box area and other miscellaneous items.

Donations for this project can be sent to Jeff Reynolds, PO Box 274, Plymouth, NE 68424.  Businesses interested in purchasing an advertising sign at the field can contact Dave Bloomquist at 223-0117 or Kevin Weichel at 656-4886.  Please call Jeff Reynolds at 656-3036 or Bill Waltz at 656-5755 for further information about this project.  Donations to TCLBO, Inc. are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
